Article
The Meal Entertainment Benefit allows you to combine the cost of dine-in meals, accommodation, and bundled holidays above the living expenses cap to increase your tax savings further. If you use Eziway’s Salary Packaging Card to pay for these items, no receipts or forms are needed, and payments are automatically considered compliant.

What does ‘above the cap’ mean?
This term applies to an additional benefit of $2,650 per FBT year on top of your annual living expenses cap:

Public Hospital cap: $9,010 + $2,649 Meal Entertainment Benefit
Charities & PBI cap: $15,900 + $2,649 Meal Entertainment Benefit

What is an ATO-approved expense under Meal Entertainment Benefit?
Meal Entertainment is the cost of food and drink at a sit-down dining experience for two or more people, and includes:

  • café and restaurant dining
  • pub or club bistro meals
  • food court vendor
  • food and beverage catering
  • dine-in fast food family restaurant meals

What expenses aren’t ATO-approved expenses?

  • Flights
  • Car Hire
  • Movie/concert tickets
  • Theme park tickets

What evidence is needed to be ATO-compliant?
The ATO requires you to hold records for 7 years that substantiate your packaging arrangements. Eziway does this on your behalf by verifying your receipts before they are reimbursed and then storing them electronically for retrieval at any time. Receipts valued at $15.00 or less will not be accepted.
